Kavala - Philippi - Thessaloniki - Vergina - Meteora - Athens - Corinth
A short pilgrimage tour following the footsteps of St Paul across Greece. This tour can begin either from the city of Thessaloniki also.
1st step
St. Paul reached Neapolis(nowadays named Kavala) by ship from the city of Troy. Travelling via Egnatia he visits river Galgita where he baptises Lydia. You will visit the Baptistery of Lydia as well where a sermon will take place. Afterwards he visits the market of Philippi where he is whipped and imprisoned. After a while he is released and visits Thessaloniki.
2nd step
On his way to Thessaloniki he passes Amfipolis and when he finally arrives he stays at his friend's Jason house in the old city. We will visit the area for a prayer. He is chased from Jewish people and leaves the city while Jason is imprisoned.
3rd step
When he visits Veroia St. Paul finds response from the local synagogue. He is forced to leave though after being chased. After stopping in Veroia you will visit Vergina and after that the magnificent monasteries of Meteora where you will be able to pray at the bema there.
4th step
St. Paul then travels to Athens where he makes a speech at the ancient agora and the Areopagus sermon. You will make a stop at Delphi after Meteora and then you will visit Athens where you will pray at Arios Pagos or participate in a sermon at the church of St. Dionysius the Areopagite.
5th step
After Athens St. Paul visits Corinth where he establishes the Church of Corinth. After 18 months there he travels towards Kechries and then with a ship travels to Ephesus. You will pray at Corinth.
This tour can be combined with a cruise that visits Ephesus - Patmos (the island of the Apocalypse).
St. Paul also visited Rhodes and Crete during other journeys in Greece, places that you can also visit by cruise.
